Major exercise at the TU Delft building by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee Mekelweg Delft

Delft – Thursday 9 December 2021, employees of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMAR) will be practicing all day at the Reactor Institute of the TU Delft on the Mekelweg. Early this morning, KMAR and Defense employees gathered in front of the building.

The employees of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, who specialize in guarding and securing objects, had the task of securing the institute. During the exercise, actors were deployed who subjected the employees to various cases.

During the afternoon, the exercise came to a head when a van pulled up in front of the institute. The occupants threw a smoke grenade from the van, after which the KMAR employees opened fire. Several people were injured in this. In the end, three people were 'shot'. An injured person has been treated for her injuries.

The exercise was then thoroughly evaluated. According to the spokesman for the KMAR, this is the eighth and last exercise on the TU Delft site.
